My name is Alex Betzler and I am a painter and illustrator. I paint and draw from photographs, so I often pretend I am a professional photographer when I carry the camera around town. This helps me blend in with my camera so that I do not stand out so much as someone walking around taking pictures for no good reason.
There are some perks of carrying a camera around, so long as the camera is large and showy. For instance, when a parade goes by, as happens on May Day in my Powderhorn Park neighborhood, and you cannot see the festive costumes because the annoying crowd is just that - a crowd - and you are of average height but today average just isn't good enough, use your large and showy camera to squeeze through the crowd and pop into the front row. The crowd will understand. Someone must take their picture. I recommend using an elegant British accent as well, should anyone stop and question you.
